You should start the process of booking a removals company as soon as you know you are moving. It is useful to build a working relationship with your mover so they have an understanding of your individual needs for the tasks ahead. Every move is different!
Once you have made contact with your mover, they will book a time and date for a surveyor to visit. The surveyor will take the details and information needed to enable them to calculate an accurate quote.
If you are packing your goods yourself you should have everything ready to go for when the van arrives. It is always a good idea to keep one box to be loaded last containing things such as your phone charger, medicines, kettle etc.... This can then be unloaded first and at hand.
Your mover will be able to provide you with all the packing materials you need. Not all boxes are of the same grade and quality so they would sometimes fail to carry and protect your goods. You are better sourcing them from your mover than risking it elsewhere.
The removal industry offers a wide range of packing services. This can be discussed when the estimator visits your home or in brief via email/phone call with our office staff.
Wardrobe cartons will be provided by your mover so that hanging clothes can be kept neat and crease free. All other items from your wardrobes should be boxed or bagged. Chest of drawers can be left full if sturdy enough to transport and are not too heavy. In this instance drawers can be removed whilst the carcass is carried out and then put back in place on the vehicle.
Sofas, armchairs ,tables, TVs, mattresses and some other items will be wrapped in specialist covers to protect them whilst they are being moved. Your mover will also have a healthy supply of transit blankets at their disposal on the vehicle, to wrap and protect furniture and all other manner of items.
If your mover cannot gain access to unload, there may be extra charges for "waiting time". This should be clarified at the time of your quote. Some movers offer a waiting time waiver, which is a small amount paid in advance to cover such an event. Ask your mover for more details.
There are many different ways to give reviews and leave comments for your mover. These can be found on their websites, social media pages etc. Reading past comments and reviews can give you a good insight into how your mover operates.
